Jesus or mankind, whose side are you on?

The Rev. Morris Brown Gwedegwe, a priest in the Diocese of Harare, has published this plea to his leaders to ignore mankind and stand on Jesus' side. I've made bold those comments I find the most telling and inserted my thoughts in parenthesis following them;

It is most unfortunate that the African (CAPA) Anglican Bishops meeting in Mauritius recently registered their wish to attend the Lambeth Conference 2008 in Canterbury.

I have serious objections to homosexuality based on our cultural beliefs, which are supported by Holy Scripture. God himself condemns same sex marriages. (The Bible addresses same sex marriage? What translation does he use?) In Genesis 19, we see two whole cities and their inhabitants destroyed because of it. We are not threatened by such punishment. Leviticus 18:22 reads, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination." What has gone wrong with our consciences? What is so special about the British and the Americans? The Bible condemns such practices. (True, the Bible mentions homosexual behavior, yet it says nothing about those who are homosexual or same sex marriage. Not all homosexual behavior is performed by homosexuals.) We Africans are being used as scapegoats. Our value in God is being undermined.
(You feel god doesn't like you anymore because of what others are doing?)

The Church of God found refuge in Africa. God came in the form of "JESUS" to Africa for refuge. (Christians love their quotation marks, even when it makes them appear to be qualifying the name of their own god) Now death is looming and Americans and British want to use Africa. Not so, my lord archbishops.

Dear Bishops and Primates (An appropriate title), this is the time to abide in Jesus in Spirit and Truth. Why should we be fooled? If Eve was created from Adam, why go against nature? (This happens in nature a lot, does it?) The Americans and British want us to bow to them as though they are mini-gods. Never. I call on The Most Rev. Peter Akinola,(Anglican Primate of Nigeria) to continue the journey towards separation. (Yeah, Christianity isn't exclusionary enough, let's exclude even those of our own church) Please educate your fellow bishops that the wider road leads to hell. Call a spade a spade and I quote, "you do it and you go to hell." All Africans who say homosexuality is not an issue miss their fifth sense. They have been brainwashed by the American dollar. (That American dollar is just so gay) How can you tolerate or even imagine anal sex and all the dirtiness involved in this kind of behavior? Come my brothers, fight against this. The new Chairman of CAPA, the Most Rev. Ian Ernest, please, we in the Diocese of Harare urge you to stand for Africa. We want you and us to be on the side of Jesus and not of man. (You mean that Jesus was not on man's side? Why did he supposedly die on a cross in that case? Do you really want to pit religion against mankind?)

The American Bishops lied that there was no September 30, 2007 deadline calling for a stop to same sex blessings and homosexual ordinations. The Primates resolved that in Dar es Salaam. When they went back to America, and debated the issue, they were busy preparing to elect the Rev. Tracey Lind, a lesbian, to be Bishop of Chicago. At the same time, whilst they were preparing for the New Orleans meeting of the HOB, Archbishop Rowan Williams was conducting a secret service for gay priests in England, all for the love of the dollar. Archbishop Williams has no morals. He has compromised himself on the Civil Partnership motion passed at the CofE General Synod. We Africans? We are too soft. (Not like Jesus, that stud)

Read again your Communique pointer number 5. "We are convinced that what is at stake in this crisis is the very nature of Anglicanism - to understand it simply in terms of the need for greater inclusivity in the face of changing sexual ethics is a grave mistake. (Because Christianity should be about exclusion, not inclusion. How can we continue to feel special if we let everyone in?) It is not just about sexuality, but also about the nature and person of Jesus Christ, the truth of the Gospel and the authority of the Bible. We see a trend that seems to ignore the careful balance of reformed catholicity and missionary endeavor that is our true heritage, and seeing it replaced with a religion of cultural conformity that offers no transforming power and no eternal hope."

Let us all shout NO TO HOMOSEXUALITY and receive God's blessings. (Because god loves bigots as much as he hates faggots)

In other news, Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to clarify his statement about gays in Iran. I can't help but wonder why. Is he courting the gay vote in the next election? Does he fear thousands of gays marching in downtown Tehran? Perhaps he's just making excuses to cover the shortage of nooses in Iran to hang everyone they suspect of being a homosexual.

Are there gays in Iran?

Maybe. Maybe not.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, asked about the issue of homosexuality in his country during his controversial appearance at Columbia University two weeks ago, said there aren't.

Or maybe he said there are. It's hard to tell.

The Iranian leader, through a spokesman, sought Wednesday to clarify his remarks, which generated both anger and laughter during his visit to New York.

Two weeks ago, when asked if there were gay people in his country, Ahmadinejad said, through an interpreter:

"In Iran, we don't have homosexuals like in your country. We don't have that in our country. In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon. I don't know who's told you that we have it."

On Wednesday, Ahmadinejad's media adviser, Mohammad Kalhor, told Reuters what the president really meant to say was that the United States had a larger gay population than Iran. He said Ahmadinejad was simply misunderstood by Western media.

"What Ahmadinejad said was not a political answer," Kalhor told Reuters. "He said that, compared to American society, we don't have many homosexuals."

So, as they say in New York ... Let's go to the videotape.

FOXNews.com has reviewed a video copy of the speech through a Farsi interpreter.

When asked about gays in the Islamic Republic, Ahmadinejad replied:

"In Iran, firstly, we do not have homosexuals like you have here [in this country]. In our country, such a thing does not exist."

Kalhor told Reuters that Ahmadinejad did not intend to imply that there are no homosexuals in Iran. Rather, he said, the president wanted to say that homosexuality is not as common as it is in the West because of cultural and religious differences.

Homosexuality is punishable by death in the Islamic Republic.

Human rights groups have posted pictures of homosexuals purportedly being hanged in Iraq.

Would someone remind me what good religion is doing for our world?
